The bouquet opens with lemon peel, crisp orchard fruit and delicate floral notes, followed by hints of white stone fruit, chalk and fresh pastry. On the palate, it is bright and finely textured, with ripe stony fruit, lively acidity and fine, persistent bubbles. The Extra Brut style keeps the wine focused and refreshingly dry, leading to a balanced, mineral-driven finish with impressive length.
R.H. Coutier has cultivated vines in Ambonnay for generations and was among the village’s early champions of Chardonnay. This Blanc de Blancs remains an unusual and compelling expression of the Montagne de Reims—combining the depth of its clay-and-chalk soils with the elegance and citrus-driven character of Grand Cru Chardonnay.
