Winemaker Description

Our 2011 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is an elegant representation of Napa Valley Cabernet from a cool vintage. It presents an opaque garnet hue in the glass and reveals aromas of sandalwood and roasted meats.

Flavors of vanilla, coffee beans and raspberries are buttressed by dusty tannins, firm acidity and a mouth-coating texture. Given proper cellaring, this wine should provide drinking pleasure through 2029.

Winemaker Description

Our 2013 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is dark ruby in color and entices you with a nose of raspberry, cassis and loose pipe tobacco. This full-bodied wine has an assertively silky structure and is notably spicy on the palate. Flavors of sage and blackberry mark the wine’s entry. The strong acidity in the mid-palate is followed by a lingering finish. Given proper cellaring, this wine will provide drinking pleasure through 2038.

Silverado Vineyards is one of Napa Valley’s most storied estates — founded in 1981 by Ron and Diane Miller and her mother, Lillian Disney, on historic vineyard sites in the Stags Leap District that had been planted to Cabernet as far back as the 1960s. Silvio Grasso Barolo DOCG Piedmont 2022 — Half Bottle (375ml)

The Grasso family has been producing wine in Piedmont since 1927. It was Federico Grasso who began bottling the estate’s production in 1980, and under his stewardship Silvio Grasso became one of the most respected names in Barolo — praised by Robert Parker for producing “a bevy of sensational efforts over recent vintages.” Today the estate is run by Federico’s son Alessio, his wife Marilena, and their sons Paolo and Silvio, across 11 hectares of vineyards in the heart of La Morra.

Grasso’s approach is sophisticated and modern, with a particular focus on preserving the purity and elegance of Nebbiolo. To avoid excessive wood aromas, he prefers large barrels over barriques and uses less than 30% new wood even on his single-vineyard bottlings — a philosophy that results in Barolos of remarkable finesse and accessibility. From the dramatic cliffs of the Pelješac Peninsula on Croatia's Dalmatian Coast comes this expressive Plavac Mali — a grape with deep roots and a fascinating story. One of its parents is Tribidrag, better known to Americans as Zinfandel, and the family resemblance shows in the wine's bold fruit character and rustic charm.

The Skaramuca family farms the largest vineyard in the prestigious Dingač appellation, widely considered the finest Plavac Mali site in all of Croatia. Only a handful of growers produce wine here, making each bottle a rare expression of this extreme, sun-drenched terroir. Skouras is one of Greece’s most celebrated modern wineries, based in Nemea in the Peloponnese — the heartland of Aghiorghitiko (Saint George), Greece’s most noble red grape variety. The Saint George is their benchmark expression of the appellation: bright morello cherry-red in color with aromas of blackberries, raspberries, and ripe strawberries, touched by tobacco, clove, and cinnamon. Medium-bodied with elegant structure, balanced acidity, and very ripe, elegant tannins. The finish is moderately long, dominated by red fruits and followed by sweet vanilla and black pepper.

Eric Guido writes:  Delicate and understated, the 2022 Pinot Noir Grande Cuvée opens with a peppery citrus tinge and dusty dried strawberries. It's round and softly textured with pure red berry fruits riding a wave of brisk acidity. Audrey Frick writes:  Medium ruby red-hued, the 2022 Pinot Noir Grande Cuvee is expressive and elegant on the nose, with notes of red cherries, candied cranberries, roses, fresh spice and herbs, and lifted piney herbs. Medium-bodied, it has a weightless, linear feel, with fine tannins, even acidity, and a clean, tapered finish with a light herbal note. Earthen aromatics of sous bois, moss, and turned garden soils are lifted by a note of bright berries.
