Notes of blood orange emerge toward the close as the Momtazi finishes tannic and crunchy in feel, leaving the mouth watering for more.

91 Points Jeb Dunnuck |The 2021 Pinot Noir Momtazi Vineyard comes from a site located in the McMinnville AVA and biodynamically farmed and owned by Maysara. It pours a touch brighter but similar shade of red to the Temperance Hill and offers more lifted notes of dried cranberries, brighter spice, orange peel, and cocoa nib. It’s medium-bodied, with a more floating and linear feel, an approachable texture, fine tannins, and a pleasing fruity and floral feel, with a light spice lasting through the finish. It’s an elegant wine to drink now or over the coming 7-8 years. It saw 16 months in 20% new French oak barrels, and 1071 cases were produced.

Momtazi Vineyard is located in the McMinnville AVA, 7 miles west of McMinnville, Oregon. The grapes for this wine come from four blocks at the top of the vineyard on steep, exposed and windblown hillsides. The vineyard is certified biodynamic by Demeter.

Momtazi is our most textural, umami, wine. Lovely aromas of spice, smoky earth, and dried black fruit. Quite elegant on the mid palate with the finish blossoming to more floral notes with hints of cocoa powder. Will pair beautifully with winter stews and roasted vegetables. Great with cassoulet and mushroom dishes.

92 Points Connoisseurs Guide | The most complex of the Stag's Leap lot, this fascinating effort is simply brimming with ripe cherries and very rich oak and shows intriguing touches of leather, coffee, cocoa and caramel throughout its length. It is fairly full and broad on the palate with fine balance and a mannerly, well-polished feel, and, if a slight touch of last-minute tannin jumps up at its finish, there is no doubt that a few years in bottle with smooth things out completely. 

91 Points Int'l Wine Cellar | Bright, full ruby-red. Aromas of dark raspberry, dark chocolate and cola. Bigger and broader than the Fay but with less obvious early sweetness. Very ripe, spicy flavors of dark chocolate, espresso and coffee offer noteworthy depth. Spreads out horizontally to coat the palate on the back end, finishing with dusty, fine, building tannins

Blackberries, dried blueberries, creme de cassis, cedar and cinnamon are layered on the palate. Tannins are fine-grained, velvety and well integrated. Drinkable now but best from 2029.

95 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon S.L.V. kicks off with masses of black cherries and cassis, plus hints of dark chocolate. It's full-bodied, rich and velvety in feel, perhaps even a touch open-knit in character, but it shows great length and freshness on the lingering finish.

We affectionately call this the ‘Goldilocks’ tier—it’s just right! Our Classic Muscat is a perfect blend of fresh and older Muscat parcels, this wine offers the best of both worlds. It showcases vibrant, fresh fruit flavours alongside the deeper, richer complexity that comes with extended time in oak.

With notes of Turkish Delight, raisins, walnuts, and dense fruit cake, this tier has a much greater richness and complexity than the Rutherglen tier, hinting at the mature wood-aged characters that will continue to develop as it ages. It’s the ideal middle ground for those who want a balance of youthful fruit and the beginnings of that beautiful, layered depth Muscat is known for.

Starlino Rosso — Vermouth di Torino, Piedmont, Italy

Hotel Starlino is inspired by the architecture and spirit of Torino Distillati — a historic distillery located just outside of Turin, the birthplace of Aperitivo and the spiritual home of Vermouth di Torino. The Starlino recipe was created by Denis Muni and Beppe Ronco, both natives of the Piedmont region who have worked at Torino Distillati for over 20 years, bringing deep expertise and genuine passion to the craft of traditional Italian vermouth. Starlino Rosso is a Vermouth di Torino in the classic tradition — crafted with a meticulous blend of botanicals including wormwood, clove, and orange peel — with one distinctive twist: it is aged in Kentucky Bourbon barrels, which impart a rich, warm, spicy depth that sets it apart from any other vermouth on the market. The result is a vermouth of extraordinary complexity: sweet and bitter in perfect balance, with a warmth and roundness that makes it as compelling sipped neat over ice as it is in a Negroni or Manhattan.

The color is deep, rich ruby. The nose is aromatic and inviting: warm spice, dried orange peel, clove, and wormwood, with a subtle vanilla and oak undercurrent from the bourbon barrel aging. On the palate, it is lush and full-bodied — a delightful balance of sweet and bitter notes, with layers of botanical complexity and a long, warming finish. Serve over ice with an orange twist, or use as the backbone of a world-class Negroni or Manhattan.

Sterling Vineyards is one of California’s most established names, with roots in Napa Valley dating back to 1964. The Vintner’s Collection is Sterling’s approachable everyday tier — sourced from the broad and diverse Central Coast AVA, where a mosaic of cool-climate sub-appellations from Santa Barbara to Monterey produces white wines of genuine freshness and character. Oak barrel aging adds richness and depth without overwhelming the wine’s natural fruit expression.

The 2022 opens with aromas of ripe apple, Asian pear, and cinnamon, with tropical notes of guava and peach. On the palate, flavors of pineapple, peach, and clove are enriched by caramel and spice from oak aging, leading to a mineral-driven finish that adds lift and length.
