Winemaker Description

The name "La Tremenda" references the name of the vineyard from which the grapes for this wine are grown and handharvested. Made entirely from mature Monastrell vines, carefullyraised in the harsh, arid landscape of Alicante. "The vine must suffer..." and here it does.

Bright ruby-red in color, this wine shows expressive notes of fresh black cherries and red berries mingled with hints of sweet spice, toast and cocoa. On the palate, this accessible red shows silky texture, liveliness and long length.

Parmigiano Reggiano from Craver Giorgio Cravero’s family has selected and aged Parmigiano Reggiano in Bra, Italy since 1855.  Just off the main drag of the town of Bra, home to Slow Food’s biennial Cheese festival, lie the halls of Cravero. Twenty-foot high rooms that hold five thousand wheels of Parmigiano Reggiano. Cravero’s wheels rest on pine and they turn their wheels more frequently than other agers with an aim to
make a softer, less cakey texture.

Aging rooms like Cravero’s have long been a part of the cycle of making and selling Parmigiano Reggiano, much like they are for other long-aged cheeses like Comté and Gouda, cheeses whose lengthy affinage represents a real cash flow issue to farmers and cheesemakers.

"Black Betty" — also known as Brabander Reserve — is the crown jewel of that cellar. Feta Voras is made in the far Northwestern corner of Greece, in the province of Florina. This is mountainous land, covered in wildflowers and herbs.

It’s about as far away from the island of Lesbos and M. Tastanis’s feta as you can get and still be in Greece, but the cheese is still proper feta, recognized with the PDO protected status for traditional feta.

The small third generation firm, run by brothers Andreas and Sokratis, makes a creamy, crumbly cheese that you’ll want as a staple in your home.

Etude was founded on a single, uncompromising philosophy: winemaking begins in the vineyard, long before harvest, with superior grape growing leading to wines of authentic varietal expression and a telling reflection of place. The Grace Benoist Ranch is Etude’s most prized Chardonnay vineyard — a Carneros estate site planted with heritage clones including the legendary Wente selection, one of California’s oldest and most revered Chardonnay clones. The Estate Pinot Noir is a blend from Eyrie's five certified-organic estate vineyards in the Dundee Hills — one of the Willamette Valley's most celebrated sub-appellations, known for its ancient Jory volcanic soils, gentle slopes, and the ideal combination of warm days and cool nights that allow Pinot Noir to ripen slowly and develop remarkable complexity. James Suckling 91 Points | A juicy, berry-oriented Chianti Classico here showing some fine herbs, licorice, red berries and fresh plums to the nose. Medium-bodied on the palate with firm, fine-grained tannins and a tight, pretty succulent finish.

Winemaker Description 

This Chianti Riserva is produced from specially selected Sangiovese grapes grown following the traditional methods in the vineyards of the Chianti production area. The wine is aged in Slavonian oak casks owned by the Castellani Family historic cellars where it performs malolactic fermentation and ages for a minimum period of 24 months. It completes its refinement in bottle.

Winemaker Description

Harvest is done by hand to select the best fruit. Only the most mature berries are chosen, it is followed by a secondary selection to avoid any compromise on quality. Wild yeasts (pied de cuve) that are naturally present on the skins of the berries are used to obtain exceptional wines that really reflect the terroir with complex flavors and texture. After resting with the skins for 30 days, the juice is fermented in Troncais barrels of French oak barrels for 12-15 days with frequent pump overs. The wine then ages 18 months in Slavonian oak barrels and at least an additional 6 months in the bottle.

The end result is a wine with garnet color with red fruit and cassis aromas
with licorice, smoke and caramel notes with silky tannins.

Winemaker Description 

Alta Alella is the closest winery to Barcelona, located 2 kilometres from the Mediterranean between the towns of Alella and Tiana. It is a family-run project that began in 1991 with Josep Maria Pujol-Busquets and his wife Cristina Guillen. Now the estate is headed up by their daughter, Mireia.

Alella is one of the smallest appellations in Spain yet it possesses a fascinating terroirs that the Alta Alella team have harnessed in their journey to being recognised as the premier estate in the region. All the vines are planted on slopes and terraces overlooking the Mediterranean, between 100 and 250m above sea level. One of the key elements is the Sauló soil found throughout the vineyard.

Particular to this region, Sauló is an acidic and sandy soil with a low limestone content, low organic matter and good natural water drainage – ideal for the production of clean wines with a mineral edge.
